Cumberbatch’s The Electrical Life of Louis Wain First Trailer
The first trailer for the new film by Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy Louis Wain’s electric life made its debut.
The biopic follows the story of the titular artist, played by the Doctor strange actor, who became famous for his portraits of cats.
The crown‘s Foy plays the love of her life, Emily Richardson, with the trailer showcasing their blossoming relationship as Wain’s cat footage becomes a phenomenon. However, we are also starting to see his mental decline.

“I think you’re the first person to see cats as ridiculous, scared and brave… like us,” Emily tells her, revealing that her work captures the “beauty” amidst the darkness of the world.
The clip also features some familiar faces that appear, including Thor‘s Taika Waititi and musician Nick Cave, while Foy’s The crown successor Olivia Colman is expected to provide the narration.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “The extraordinary true story of eccentric British artist Louis Wain, whose playful, sometimes even psychedelic imagery helped forever transform public perceptions of cats.
“From the late 1800s to the 1930s, we follow the incredible adventures of this inspiring and unsung hero as he seeks to unravel the ‘electric’ mysteries of the world, and in so doing, gain a better understanding of his own life and the deep love he shared with his wife Emily Richardson. “
