Ex-Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Scott Derrickson reportedly returning for third film
Scott Derrickson has already directed one movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was close to directing his second. The creative differences between the filmmaker and Marvel Studios ended up forcing the director to part ways with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. If Derrickson was successful, however, he would come back.
After a fan asked him if he would return to the Strange franchise, Derrickson expressed his love for the Marvel brand and confirmed that he would return if the opportunity presented itself. “I loved working with Marvel and would definitely do it again,” Derrickson tweeted in response to a fan.

Derrickson’s take on Doctor Strange opened up a whole new corner of the franchise and made a huge amount for Marvel Studios. Globally, the mystical feature has grossed nearly $ 678 million.
A cookie-cutter statement released in tandem between Derrickson and Marvel Studios has led some to believe that a “frightening conflict” may have been the driving force behind the director’s separation from the studio.
“If I’m going to do that, it has to go into the territory that drew me to Doctor Strange comics in the first place, which is how they got into the gothic and the horror and the horrible, and we’re going to make the MCU’s first scary movie, ”Derrickson said when the movie was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con.
“I mean, there are some horrible sequences in [Raiders of the Lost Ark] that i would do as a little child [cover my eyes] when their faces melted. Or Temple of Doom, of course, or Gremlins, or Poltergeist, ”Kevin Feige said shortly after in a Q&A hosted by the New York Film Academy. “By the way, it was the films that invented the PG-13 rating. They were PG and then they said to themselves: “We need another [rating]. ‘ But it’s fun. It’s fun to be scared that way, and not in a horrible, torturous way, but in a way that’s rightfully scary – because Scott Derrickson is good enough at it – but scary in the service of an emotion. exhilarating. “
