Hallmark is putting autism at the forefront of its signature holiday movie lineup with a film starring a spectrum actor and actress with well-known ties to the autism community.
Production is set to begin on a film which Hallmark says is the first to feature an autistic character.
The film currently titled “The Christmas Bond” stars Holly Robinson Peete and Nik Sanchez, an actor with autism.

“In the story, as a single mother (Peete) and her autistic teenage son (Sanchez) arrive at a crossroads on Christmas, she must learn to let go so that he can thrive and find his own heart in healing unexpectedly, “Hallmark said of the film.
Robinson Peete, who is also an executive producer on the film, has a son on the spectrum and has long been active in the autism community. She said “The Christmas Bond” had special meaning for her.
“I am making this film for my son RJ, other autistic people and their families,” said Robinson Peete. “I am grateful to Hallmark for bringing this story to the screen with authenticity, respect and hope.”
“The Christmas Bond” will air later this year on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries as part of the network’s “Miracles of Christmas” event.
