Nayanthara’s Netrikann trailer has been released. Movie release on Disney + Hotstar on August 13

After Mokuthi Amman, Nayanthara is back with another OTT version. His next film, Netrikann, directed by Milind Rau, will be released on Disney + Hotstar on August 13. Ahead of the film’s release, the directors unveiled the trailer, which promises an intriguing story. As previously stated, Nayanthara will play the role of a visually impaired person who is a witness in a police case.

A few days ago, the creators of Netrikann announced that the streaming rights to the film had been sold to Diney + Hotstar. The mysterious thriller was set to hit theaters. However, due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the creators have decided to skip a theatrical release.

On July 29, the official Disney + Hotstar Twitter account posted the Netrikann trailer and announced the film’s release date. The film will be released on August 13 in four languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

Here is the trailer:

The trailer shows Nayanthara speaking to the police claiming that she “saw” a murder. Meanwhile, Ajmal kidnapped, assaulted and murdered 12 women. Nayanthara shares his sighting with the police, so they can arrest him. The characters of Nayanthara and Ajmal are at loggerheads. Who will win in this cat and mouse game is history.

Nayanthara’s Netrikann marks Vignesh Shivan’s debut as a producer under his Rowdy Pictures banner. Apparently the movie is based on a Korean movie called Blind. However, there is no official statement on this. Netrikann was due to hit theaters in the summer of 2021.

Besides Nayanthara, Netrikann also stars Ajmal Ameer, Manikandan Pattambi and Saran in crucial roles. The film’s technical team consists of cinematographer RD Rajasekar and composer Girishh Gopalakrishnan.
