Progressive movie Sword Art Online gets new 60-second trailer

Aniplex has released a new 60-second trailer for the upcoming Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night film, which is scheduled to premiere on October 30 in Japan.

The film is inspired by Aria on a starless night, one of the stories of the Sword Art Online: Progressive first volume of light novels. However, the film features an original character called Mito and seems to focus more on the heroine of the series Asuna.

The Progressive The series spans the ‘Aincrad Arc’ of the original and still ongoing Sword Art Online series. The first volume was published in 2012, while the eighth and final volume was published in June 2021. The main and the Progressive the series are written by Reki Kawahara with illustrations from abec.

Yen Press describes Progressive like:

“There’s no way to beat this game. The only difference is when and where you die… ”

A month has passed since Akihiko Kayaba’s deadly game began, and the death toll continues to rise. Two thousand players have already died.

Kirito and Asuna are two very different people, but they both want to fight on their own. Nevertheless, they come together to face challenges both internal and external. Since the entire virtual world they now live in was created as a death trap, the surviving Sword Art Online players start to get desperate and the desperation makes them dangerous for loners like Kirito and Asuna. As it becomes clear that loneliness equates to suicide, will the two be able to overcome their differences to find the strength to believe in each other and thus survive?

Sword Art Online: Progressive is a new take on the Sword Art Online tale that begins at the start of Kirito and Asuna’s epic adventure, at the very first level of the mortal world of Aincrad!
